Driving

Im doing a blog about driving because i LOVE driving.

I passed my test on 3/5/11 it was the best feeling ever! It was second time lucky for me. It was the scariest thing ever. Its so nerve racking and the tester guy doesn't help much. You try and have a conversation with them and they just go hmm and tell you instructions. When i passed i only got 6 minors, go me. My first test i got some thing like 12 minors and 2 serious, one of the serious was completely fair, i pulled up to close to a parked car. I could see him reaching for the steering wheel as i was pulling out, when i did it successfully i was like 'hell yeah, i rock!'
The second serious was i apparently drove on a pavement for half a mile! It was a load of bollocks! Me and my instructor, Allan, drove my test route and couldn't find where he meant. But then again there is a rumour thats been going round for ever that only a certain amount of people is allowed to pass per day. Which is kinda logical because you don't want to many cars on the road but on the other hand it really bad that they have to make up excuses why you have failed and make you feel like shit! Its nerve racking enough without the thought of 'do they want me to pass or not?' but i guess that makes it more exciting.

Now i drive its amazing! I love love love driving. Its the best thing i ever did, well so far. And the best bit is that we get to have KFC more than once a year when we are in town and its not that busy. Its great. Also i have been to bake well quite a few times and not been on a smelly bus for hours or in a car with kids! Its fabulous. Plus i get to go to my favourite place in Sheffield, Bradfield and not been on a bus. As you can tell i hate public transport now. Driving spoils you.

The down side to driving is the costs. My insurance is sky high because its the first year, cant wait till i get it renewed :) then you got your road tax to pay, petrol, mots and then you gotta pay for anything that goes wrong with the car. I had to get a new gearbox at the beginning of the year and that set me back £250. But Delilah is worth it, yes i have named my car, Delilah. Its a perfect fit because i have a Daewoo. Also i have Breakdown cover from the AA. It is worth every penny. They are amazing. If you don't have breakdown cover get it! Its great.

In conclusion, driving rocks and i recommend it to everyone! You can go anywhere, providing you have the petrol and funds for a road trip. Im still waiting for the road trip bit, I'm sure it will come.

NHS

My mom works for the Nhs in sheffield and its in a right mess. She works on the AAU in the hallamshire and its closing. Even though its got 27 beds on it and they are ALWAYS busy! I don't get the logic, they have been told that they are using too much money for what they are and they need to close. Who's clever idea is that? This world is all about money and it sucks!
Like the northern general hospital are really struggling for beds and are sending quite a few patients to the hallamshire AAU and other wards and NGH are closing some wards them selfs! Wheres the logic in that? Also they are wanting to combine the two hospitals into one. Thats just daft i think. Plus i don't like the northern general, its way to big and its like a freaking maze, you get lost half the time.

Why is the world about money? What about the people without money? Theres big rumours going round that the Nhs is not going to be free for much longer and they are going to charge for the service they give! I hope that will NEVER happen. I go to the hospital quite a lot because of my Crohns and i cant afford to pay for all the meds i take and procedures i have. Its crazy. However we must be doing something right because America are thinking about doing their own version of the Nhs. Take a hint government, don't just think about the rich!!

Another thing i don't get it that they are shutting wards to save money but they have posters up says 'tell us ways to make the Nhs better' ... Heres an idea... Stop closing wards!!
Also its funny, you would think that if you work for the Nhs then you would be in the loop of whats shutting and whats not.. But i went to see my IBD nurse today and they didn't know about the ward my moms on which i thought was weird but she said that they are always the last to know. You would think they would send a newsletter or something. I mean shops send one out to show whose the the best and who needs work and what the company is up to. I think it would be good, plus then i could read it when mom brought it home and i could tell you guys :)

Prescriptions.. What is with the price going up? It is crazy! Its like, £8 now. Im dreading it when i start working again because at the moment i get my meds free. So happy about that because i take so many tablets it would bankrupt me. Another thing i don't agree with is, only a certain few qualify for free prescriptions, you just have to have one of these conditions,

Permanent Fistula (including caecostomy, colostomy, laryngostomy, or ilestomy) requiring continuous surgical dressing or requiring an appliance

Forms of Hypoadrenalism (including Addison’s disease) for which specific substitution therapy is required

Diabetes Insipidus and other forms of hypopituitarism

Diabetes mellitus except when treatment is by diet alone

Hypoparathyriodism

Myasthenia Gravis

Myxoedema

Epilepsy requiring continuous anti-convulsive therapy

A continuing physical disability which prevents a patient from leaving a residence without the help of another person – temporary disabilities do not count even if they last for several months

That information is from http://www.psd.scot.nhs.uk/doctors/exemptions.html#conditions
Don't want to get told off :)

Or be old, i think its over 65...

Now all that is fair enough, i don't know what some of those conditions are but they must be important. However i think that people who are on medication for the rest of their life should get free prescriptions. Take me for example, i am on medication for the rest of my life and i will have to pay until I'm old enough to get it free. I don't think its fair, i have over half a dozen tablets and i will have to pay for everyone of those and sooner or later it will be £20 per prescription. Can you imagine how much money i am going to spend on future medication? Its not even worth thinking about. I don't mind paying for quick prescriptions like steroids or antibiotics, thats fair enough but for my main meds... Not happy.
But they are trying to get to the bottom of my pain quite quickish so they aren't all bad i suppose. :)

I think that is enough moaning about the National Health Service.
Do you have any thoughts?

Internet addict!

Hi. My names Gemma and I'm a internet addict.
Ive notice recently I've been going on the internet ALL the time. Refreshing Twitter and Facebook, Checking Pinterest all the time for different pictures and boards to follow, checking to see how many people have viewed my blog and who has interesting blogs for me to follow. Going on my iPhone apps all the time just to see if i can do something new.
But why is the internet so addictive? Especially social websites! I think its because we like to nosey in other peoples lives. I know i do. Don't judge me, you know you do it to. Or is it just for something to do? Im ill at the moment so i am going on the internet a lot and eating my way through my data. Oh well I'm allowed because the internet is keeping me sane.

I am addicted to Pinterest. Found it browsing on the iTunes app store and thought it looked quite interesting so i downloaded it. Found out though you have to 'request' an invite to join so had to wait a day to get started but it was so worth it. Its a site that is just about pictures that you pin on your profile and you make different boards. I have a few boards but one is about Animals, surprise, surprise. But i have put a few pictures up of my lot and found some pictures on the site that i have repined and that i found on random websites. Sounds a bit boring but its so good, you should check it out. Theres loads of stuff on it...
Fashion, make up, pets, weddings, holidays (christmas, easter, etc.), buildings, decor, history and the list goes on. You do actually find some awesome stuff on there. Got some lovely pictures of animals and found loads of really awesome nail art and fabulous shoes. You can put any thing on there, any thing that inspires you, makes you happy, you get the idea.

Also i am slightly obsessed with Blogger as well, i cant seem to get of this site. Im quite new to blogging and for some reason I'm addicted. Finding different blogs to follow, what to blog next and try and get my numbers up. The number thing is a bit of a challenge but i can try :)

I use to be addicted to Facebook but twitter is slowly taking over. With twitter you can tweet as many times as you want and its not classed as annoying behaviour. And i like the fact that you can follow actual celebrities that you like and they are their own thoughts and not of a random person. Ive even got my mom on twitter. I just love twitter! I like the different trends, for example, i didn't know there was a national cake day cant remember what day it was but the fact that it exists is epic! Everybody loves cake!! I even get birthday cakes every year and I'm 25 now. Again don't judge me, your never to old for a good birthday cake, this year i had a top gear cake and last year it was a sponge bob cake.

I also love the app, Tiny Village. You need the internet to play it so its relevant. Ha. Its amazing. You basically have this little bit of land that you have to grow and develop into a little community. And you have to build resource areas for food, wood, fur, stones and stuff like that and you gotta build houses so you get more villages to help out. You can keep dinosaurs, even a mammoth! I have two =D also you need to build a marketplace so you can make some money from the extra resources you have but you can build shops to make more money by making stuff from, again, you resources. And the money you make you can get decorations, houses, shops and you can upgrade you magic rock. Now the magic rock... I have no idea why there is a magic rock but it takes a while to level up your rock. I have been playing this game since December and I'm only on level 5 rock. Plus you need to raise the money for it and collect loads of resources. I love it. Download it guys, you wont regret it.

In conclusion i still don't know why the internet is addictive but hey, its so much fun!!!

Animals and abuse affects

I put alot of thought in to what i should write about next and came up with bubkis! so i decided to write about one of the things im really passionate about and love, animals. They are amazing.
I find it fascinating that they have different personalities, just like you and me. Also how different up bringing can make them who they are. Take my cats for example, they are hugely different
Tabatha is highly strung and jasper is very laid back. Tabatha is a stress head because she was abused when she was a kitten (not by me) which has made her the way she is. I have told you this in my first blog but thought might actually get through to people NOT to abuse animals! Spread the word, i think its a good word, worth spreading but i love animals, you have your own opinion When i got her she was a right mess. Bits of fur missing, thin, horrible coat to feel and see and had loads of cuts all over her. But she was beautiful and i loved her. Shes the black and white cat. Told you, beautiful right? She has schizophrenia and she self harms all because the people that had her before me has treated her like shit! I have to keep an eye on her grooming because she over grooms and starts biting her arms and makes her self bleed so i have to keep nudging, poking and stroking her. Im sure i get on her nerves doing that but it is for her own good. However she did pull her fur out on her stomach and I've trying to stop her for about 9yrs now and finally she is getting her fur back slowly! Im so proud of my self and of her for stopping slightly. She still does it but not as much and now shes got a bit of fluff showing :) She also runs of theres any weird movement, like i could be turning over and land a little louder than usual and shes out that room so fast. Also if shes at the top of the stairs you know to wear slippers because shes going to be attacking your feet soon, i actually like that because its kinda like playing with me i think. She even grunts when shes got her mouth round you its so funny to hear. Also we will be playing with a bracelet i made her and she will catch me, i say OW and shes off like a shot! Im thinking that maybe her previous owners would hit her if she hurt them slightly, so now i just kinda wince and she doesn't actually notice that shes hurt me a bit and carries on enjoying her self. Another point i have is that animals are sensitive to our emotions = AMAZING!!
I think shes finally coming round to the idea that i will not hurt her and really loving me. Like the other week i had a really bad day with my crohns, because i never really left my room and my mom was really looking after me and she never left my side apart from to eat a little and go out for the bathroom. And i mean never left my side! Even when i went to the toilet! Haha! And when my pain is bad i bring my knees up to my chest and she knows that I'm in a lot of pain because she looks at me and keeps meowing until i say 'I'm ok' and she will head butt me so ill stroke her.
Even Jasper doesn't Leave my side when I'm having a bad day either

Now Jasper I've had him since he was 6 weeks old. Had to get him early because his mom wasn't eating and his dad was trying to kill him. Jasper is the ginger cat and thats his usual position, he's either outside or next to me. Now since i have had him for such a young age he's known nothing but love and it shows. He hasn't got a mean bone in his body. The 1st time he scratched me was when he was playing with a cotton bracelet i made and he got over excited. I had to take a picture just as proof. And every time he is in my room he is always bang next to me, also when i move and not touching him he opens his eyes, looks at me then stretches his arm out just so he's got a paw on me. I think its cute to be honest, can get a bit annoying though but just means that he loves me and likes to be close.
The cutest thing is that he loves Kevin my tortoise, when i take Kevin outside Jasper is never far behind. Once i had him outside and he had a poo and walked through it (Kevin does that a lot! Lol) so i tipped him on his back quickly to get him clean underneath and Jasper did not like that at all, he was looking at me and didn't stop meowing till i put him down. Thought it was well cute. I cant really say much else about Jasper, hes just a lovely loving cat. Tabatha is the funny one because shes so crazy and im saying that in the nicest possible way. She makes me chuckle. For example; shes started watching TV a lot more, check out the picture, she was watching Tangled for 20minutes. I was so glad my mom was in the room with me because no one would believe me that she sits and watches tv for 20mins at a time. She is getting to be a right telly addict. She actually moves her head to watch where everyone is and where they move to. I told ya, total nutter! Haha but i love her! :)
I love all of my pets.
I think thats it for now but i got loads of more stories about my animals that will save for another entry.
Much love xx

Shoes and stuff

Fancied doing a blog about shoes! Wont be the biggest blog in the world but done it any way!!
Every girl has a million of them! Even children have lots of them. What is with shoes that make them so addictive? Is it the styles? Colours? Names? I think that when you find that perfect shoe then thats it, you found your soul mate. My soul mate is my converse shoes. I have them in black, checked blue, pink (picture of the converse, they are new so forgive the shinnyness) and red and still wanting a rainbow pair, yellow and pink and who knows i might even want more.
My grandma always says to me that you cant wear them all at once... Who cares?! Im a girl. Its what we do. We find one thing that we love and we go for it. But have in said that my grandma owns about 10 pairs of shoes so she cant really say any thing. Besides i only have 14 pairs and that not alot, my cousin has 36, yes 36 pairs of shoes just for her and she is still adding to it! Now that is a serious addiction but her collection is epic!
I haven't got the biggest shoe collection but all my shoes are flat which is a shame but i cant wear heels
because of my knee! :( but i can still drool over them! Some are so cute like the heels in the picture!
But i got to say, i love the skinny jeans and heels look. But then again i love skinny jeans and converse! Yes im back on converse! They are the best shoes i think.
And no matter what my mom says, your NEVER to old for a pair of converse!!
Thats all i think of right now but im sure ill update soon.
Much love xx
